This famous film prop appeared in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The inscriptions on the faux gravestone read: “Thomas Riddle 1880-1943; Mary Riddle 1883-1943; Tom Marvolo Riddle 1915-1943.” A few details from the informational placard accompanying the gravestone:
Tom Riddle’s Gravestone
The inspiration for this gravestone came from Highgate Cemetery in North London, one of England’s most historic cemeteries. The graves there led sculptor Bryan Court to design a beautiful angel draped over Tom Riddle’s headstone. Opting for a more sinister look, artists replaced Court’s angelic design with the ‘Angel of Death’, a fitting choice for the Dark Lord.
'The short man in the cloak had put down his bundle, lit his wand, and was dragging Harry towards the marble headstone. Harry saw the name upon it flickering in the wand-light before he was forced around and slammed against it. TOM RIDDLE.’ – J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
